If you found New Super Mario Bros. 2 getting a bit stale, you'll be able to refresh your palette, as the first official DLC for the game is available today.
Each pack offers players three brand new, different courses. However, they're only for the game's gold rush mode, so the emphasis is strictly on coin collecting. The first pack, the Gold Rush Pack, sees Mario attempting to collect a total of 30,000 coins, and seems fairly simple.
The next, Coin Challenge Pack A, has players competing against each other, each gamer vying for a ranking on Nintendo's official New Super Mario Bros. 2 website.
As for the final pack, the "Nerve Wreck Pack," the difficulty has been ramped up to insane levels. Looks like the designers took a hit from some of the Kaizo Mario rom hack games that are floating around on the internet. And in all honesty, dare I say this is the only pack that actually looks interesting. Best of luck not throwing your DS through a window when you try your hand at this one.
Nintendo offered a short video when they announced the DLC not too long ago. If you happened to miss it, you can watch it below to get a look at some of the new courses.
You can download the packs individually, or all of them at once. More courses are planned for a second DLC release at the end of October and November, with more details to follow.
