"Pokemon GO" Tips and Tricks - Travel In A Straight Line For Pokemon Eggs Hatching
Distances travelled, as far as hatching Pokemon eggs is concerned, is not the actual distance a player walked to reach a destination. It appears that walking a straight line provides the maximum result as compared to walking in a curved path.
In Reddit post, one player explains how the "Pokemon GO" app measures distance travelled. In a nutshell if two players depart from point A to reach at point B, the players who walked a straight line from A to B will have the same distance travelled as the player who took a more complicated route thereby covering more distance from A to B. For the app, it's just the same.
