The fifth season of "Vikings" is currently in development. There are rumors that WWE Star Adam "Edge" Copeland will join the "Vikings" cast in a recurring role. The second half of "Vikings" Season 4 is still set to air in fall 2016, while the fifth "Vikings" season is expected to launch sometime in 2017.
Deadline reported that Adam "Edge" Copeland will take on the role of a fierce and brave warrior, Ketill Flatnose, selected by Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) to become one of the leaders of the Viking party who plans to move to Iceland and establish a community in the area. According to IGN, Copeland was previously a recurring character on "Haven" on Syfy. He is set to appear next in "Interrogation," a WWE action-thriller.
The actor/wrestler is represented by Don Buchwald & Associates and OAZ & Associates. Copeland joins Jonathan Rhys Meyers in "Vikings" Season 5. It is still uncertain which character Meyers will be playing, although it was recently revealed that the cast and crew members will start filming "Vikings" Season 5 in summer 2016.
International Business Times wrote that "Vikings" has been renewed for a fifth season in March 2016 by History Channel. The network ordered the fifth installment, consisting of 20 episodes. The first three seasons of "Vikings" had 10 episodes each, while Season 4 featured 20 episodes. This means that WWE fans can expect to see a lot of action and dialogue involving Edge.
In the meantime, "Vikings" fans can expect several intense and exciting episodes in the midseason return of the show. The trailer presented at San Diego Comic-Con featured Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) seemingly at odds with everyone, especially his son, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig). There were scenes of King Ecbert (Linus Roache) obviously preparing another conspiracy, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Rollo (Clive Standen) and his French wife, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) and Floki, among other returning characters.
The wise man predicted that Ragnar is returning to Kattlegat and will bring chaos and destruction among its people. One scene showed Ragnar being delivered into a prison cell, while another showed Bjorn leading the Vikings against a European army.
It is still unknown how Copeland and Meyers' characters will enter the story or relate to Ragnar, but the plan to transfer to Iceland hints that there may be an impending divide among the Vikings in the near future. More updates and details on "Vikings" are expected soon.
