NBA 2K13 developer 2K Sports has released a new developer insight video that takes a deeper look at the game's shoes, including visual improvements, the inclusion of more brands and the customizable Shoe Creator.
Senior producer Rob Jones says that the team worked hard at recreating shoes that look as real as the ones on your feet.
"We never had the ability to assign materials to show," Jones said. "I mean to really make the light and texture feel like suede or fee like paten leather. So we built shader this year to really bring out the qualities of those particular materials. The cool thing is now those shoes look tangible as the show world evolves we want to keep the game current."
The shoe editor is built similar to the program Photo Shop and will allow gamers to utilize a numerous amount of colors and materials to create a unique shoe that should be near impossible to replicate by other gamers, according to Jones. The game features several brands including standard brand such as Adidas, Nike and Reebok, but also includes new comers like Spalding and Under Armour.
Player can take a in-game created pair of Nikes, and utilize a code for the Nike ID store so that they can order the shoes to wear in real life, while their in-game player is also wearing them.
NBA 2K13 is will released on Oct. 2 in for the Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Wii. A Wii U release is expected when the new console launches on Nov. 18. Read our review of the demo here and watch the video below...
