Retired WWE star Adam “Edge” Copeland will be returning to fight once again though it will no longer be in the wrestling ring. Instead, Copeland will be joining the history drama series “Vikings” this coming season 5.
A new kind of fight
“Edge’s” casting is not a one-time deal. He will take on a recurring role which will see him portray “Ketill Flatnose”, someone pegged to be a fierce and brave warrior, Deadline reported.
The character that Copeland will be playing is the one selected by “Floki” to act as one of the leaders of the Viking group traveling to Iceland where he will be ultimately tasked to set up a community.
“Edge” is technically the second personality added for “Vikings” season 5. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was the first to be announced. Unlike the case of Copeland, the role of Meyers is still unknown with the folks behind the show keeping a tight lid on the role of “The Tudors” star.
Backed with good credentials
Aside from the fact that “Edge” has a proven track record as far as acting on TV, the former WWE champion did have a couple of recurring television roles. That includes Syfy’s “Haven” and an upcoming action-thriller titled “Interrogation”.
Handled by Don Buchwald & Associates and OAZ & Associates Copeland expands his acting opportunity with a successful series.
“Vikings” is the No. 1 telecast on Thursday nights on cable in all key demos in Live +3, pulling in 4.2 million total viewers, 2.1 million Adults 25-54 and 1.9 million Adults 18-49.
Don’t Forget Season 4
The casting announcement of Meyers and Copeland are something to look forward to but all that will have to wait. “Vikings” season 4 is set to return in the Fall for the second half of its season before fans can look forward to a promising season 5.
