NeatherRealm Studios gave a peek at the collector's edition for its upcoming fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Among the usual array of downloadables and alternate costumes you'd see in many special editions of fighting games is one truly badass statue. A press release descrbes is as an "Exclusive DC Collectibles statue featuring iconic characters Batman and Wonder Woman, the Fortress of Solitude, and the Last Son of Krypton's escape ship (Highly detailed statue that stands over 13" tall, beautifully rendered with a combination of injected and hand painted decoration, and includes The Lasso of Truth, clear cast ice details and translucent smoke trail)" But you should really check it out for yourself.
Beyond the statue and copy of the game, you'll also get:
The collector's edition will retail for $99.99.
Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale. However, now with almost half of the total characters Batman related, I can't help but wonder when other DC characters will be added. DC still has a great many characters to draw on, some of whom we haven't seen in this medium yet: Plastic Man, Black Hand, Lobo, Hawkman, Doomsday, Gorilla Grodd, etc.
Speaking with Playstation blog over the summer, Injustice's creative director Ed Boon does have a plan to introduce more characters down the line. "With Mortal Kombat, we brought in crazy guests like Freddy Krueger. So we'll definitely want to introduce unexpected characters [via DLC] to Injustice. That'll be our strategy. It's comparable to Mortal Kombat, but being really aggressive with our DLC characters."
At the moment, the roster for Injustice includes: Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Batman, Cyborg, Nightwing, Flash, Solomon Grundy, and Superman.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, with an eventual release on Nintendo's Wii U.
