Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is mainly based on the "Secret Invasion" storyline in Marvel comic books. Battle for Earth will release on Oct. 30, for the Xbox 360 and will release during the launch window of the Nintendo's Wii U.
The game features 20 different characters, including Black Widow, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iceman, Iron Man, Loki, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Storm, Super-Skrull, Thor, Venom, Vision, and Wolverine. Each character has four unique super powers.
Motion gameplay will be used to unleash super attacks, velocity boosts, breakers and frenzies. Alternate costumes and collector cards can unlocked to players throughout the game.
The game is dubbed as the ultimate super hero brawler and Ubisoft released a demo for the upcoming Kinect superhero game. The demo puts player in control of the Hulk or Thor as they battle the Skrull versions of Captain America and Magneto. Players use motion control to trigger simple attacks and eventually super attacks.
The basic control system is sticking your arm out in a punching motion to toss a rock at your opponent, kicking your left leg out to perform a super kick and moving left or right to dodge oncoming attacks. The demo is pretty easy to play and Captain Skrull and Magneto Skrull barely put up a fight.
Graphically the game has some pretty cool looking and artsy character models. The environments look pretty solid and crumble around the player nicely.
The demo is a really brief outing so it is very hard to say how good or bad the game is. I didn't hate it, but I didn't have a lot of fun with it either. There is some potential, but ultimately I don't think this is a winner. I give it a 5-out-of-10.
