Everybody's going absolutely crazy for "Pokemon Go," bringing people out their homes and walking around everywhere just to collect Pokemon to battle with. It can get a little hard trying to find certain Pokemon in your usual haunts, especially when there's an uncommon or rare Pokemon known to be in the area.
Can lures and incense, two items in "Pokemon Go" designed to increase the chances of a Pokemon encounter wherever you go (for a certain period of time) help you catch hard-to-find Pokemon? Is it possible to draw out rare Pokemon that normally wouldn't be in a specific area?
Unfortunately, according to a Reddit thread, lures and incense don't actually cheat the system and net you Pokemon that usually wouldn't be in a certain place. They just really increase the chances of encountering a Pokemon you would normally encounter there.
The best tactic for "Pokemon Go" players to do would be to go to a place where specific Pokemon (i.e. the ones that you're looking for) spawn and use a lure or incense there. While your encounters won't always be that of the rare Pokemon, your chances of finding the Pokemon you're looking for do increase.
Really, the best way for you to take advantage of this is to keep going around your surroundings and discovering different Pokemon "ecosystems," if you will. "Pokemon Go" is anchored around this philosophy, and the name of the game truly is diversity. You're not going to catch a whole lot of different Pokemon staying in one place, so go out and explore; but do remember to be very careful while you're outside with your mobile phone!
"Pokemon Go" is set to roll out in the rest of the world by the end of July. The game just released in Singapore and Hong Kong yesterday, July 25.
