Borderlands 2 has only been out for about a week, and it seems to have hit its first official speed bump. A number of players are reporting a glitch robbing them of their 'Badass Token' collection.
Sadly, the error doesn't seem to be platform specific, hitting players on PC, PS3 and XBox 360 alike. According to Gearbox community manager Chris Faylor, the glitch looks to be the result of a corrupted save file. Said Faylor, "Thanks for all the reports and specific details, folks. Our engineers are looking into this, and the information you've provided has proven to be a great resource while we investigate."
Not only does the glitch steal a player's tokens, but the challenges players completed to earn the tokens in the first place remain completed, leaving players unable to re-earn the tokens.
Adding to the dilemma, the upgrades purchased with the tokens? Yeah, they disappear too. Talk about a triple whammy.
Thankfully, according to Faylor, "At the moment, it seems to be a fairly rare issue and we'll keep you updated on when we resolve it." Possible solutions have been posted for the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of Borderlands 2 on Bethesda's forums, but at this point they only seem to be temporary. Nothing for the PC versions yet though.
For XBox 360 gamers:
-When quitting from playing, press the start button and select "Quit", then yes.
-Let it sit at the main menu for 30 seconds, then hit the red button (B).
-Let it sit at this menu (the one that asks you to press start) for another 30 seconds, then hit your Xbox button to bring up the dashboard and exit to the dashboard.
-Now you can safely turn off your console.
For PS3 gamers:
Step 1: Go to your system user profile, create a second profile for your offline buddy. - you may want to set yours to auto login.
Step 2: Invite said buddy over, sit em down and inform em of the problem. The above poster is 100% correct. This is the problem: The game applies all badass ranks across all a profiles characters. If your partner is using your profile - they have a name tag of "something_1"- the game won't recognize them as a partner in terms of the ranks, just somebody using your char. Technically this is not a bug, as the system is correct in it's assumption, someone else is driving the toon but it's still saved to your profile.
Step 3: Restart. Either have them join a game with their own profile or have them host one and have you join under yours. Now you have two players each with a char saving to their own specific profile, the game should now save all badass ranks as well as the extras.
Disclaimer I'm not sure if stuff like the vault relic or extras carry over if they host a game. technically it should as you still have the data on your system regardless of whos hosting. But I'm not sure.
Best of luck, Pandora awaits.
