Seahawks' safety Earl Thomas intercepted an Aaron Rodgers pass at the Packers' 39-yardline to set up Steven Hauschka game-winning field goal as the Seattle Seahawk upset the Green Bay Packers 30-29 on Monday Night Football.
Rodgers led a 93-yard drive late in the fourth quarter that ended with a Jordy Nelson touchdown catch from the 5-yardline, making it 29-27 at the 3:47 mark. The Packers then went for a two-point conversion attempt to give them a 3-point lead, but the Rodgers pass slipped through the fingertips of Jermichael Finley in the back of the endzone. Finely ended the game with just four catches for 36 yards in the game.
Rodgers threw for 373 yards, ran for 32 more, and had three touchdown passes on a night when the Packers run game was just atrocious. Cedric Benson rushed for 23 yards on 18 carries and John Kuhn added just two rushing yards on one attempt.
On the following Seahawks' possession after the Packers' go head touchdown, rookie quarterback Russell Wilson threw three straight incomplete passes leading to a 60-yard punt from punter Jon Ryan pinning the Packers at their own 15-yardline.
Wilson was 23 of 39 for 276 yards. Marshawn Lynch had 191 yards on 25 rushing attempts with two touchdowns and Sidney Rice caught eight receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. Golden Tate added six receptions for 52 yards.
Rodgers and the Packers were forced to pass the ball on third and long and the play resulted in the Thomas interception. Marshawn Lynch then rush for gains of 10, 5 and 9 setting up the game winning 32-yard field goal.
Green Bay's offensive line allowed Aaron Rodgers to be sacked four times and hit ten times. The Packers' inability to run the ball allowed the Seahawks to blitz often and be very aggressive in their defensive play calling.
