Microsoft just announced some good news for console lovers. The tech giant revealed that they are slashing the price of Xbox One again. The cut effectively brings down the price of a 500 GB gaming system from $279 to just $249.
The sale price is now half of the amount when the console was first released three years ago. This is the third time that Microsoft slashed the price of Xbox One, from the original $299, it was put on sale for $279 in June, then an added $30 cut now.
The sale was first relayed to the public through Larry Hryb's Twitter. He is Xbox's director of programming who is also known as Major Nelson in the world of gaming. On July 23, he tweeted: "Starting today and for a limited time in the US: All 500GB Xbox One Consoles will be $249."
Buyers who will get Xbox One while on sale will also get a freebie as the console is bundled with some popular game titles like "Rise of the Tomb Raider," Forza Motorsport" and "Gears of War" Ultimate Edition. The offer has been set for a limited time only but until when it will last was not mentioned.
Moreover, the sale seems to be in line with the scheduled release of Xbox One S on Aug. 2. It appears that Microsoft is trying to say: "Everything must go!" before the launch of the new and better version of the said console.
Xbox One S is slimmer, sleek and about 40 percent smaller compared to the original Xbox console. It can be positioned horizontally so it uses less space.
What's more, the new Xbox One is equipped with 4K Ultra HD video which supports HD and Blu-ray playbacks. With such great feature, the units' price is very affordable at only $399 for the 2TB models, while the 500 GB and 1TB variants are priced at $299 and $349, respectively.
Xbox One S is coming to the market next week. The units will be limited on the launch date but more consoles are expected to come later this year.
