The New England Patriots overcame a first-half 14-point deficit and four turnovers by their offense to rally for a 24-21 victory against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
Tom Brady led the Patriots on 82-yard touchdown drive for the go-ahead score with 3 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Brady hit his tight end Rob Gronkowski in the corner of the endzone on a 16-yard strike. Gronkowski had 10-receptions for 115-yards.
Stevan Ridley ran for 85 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries, and Brady completed 26 of 39 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions for New England.
The Patriots fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter after two Brady interceptions on consecutive drives that set up two touchdowns - Joe Flacco's 12-yard scoring pass to tight end Dennis Pitta, and running back Ray Rice's 13-yard touchdown run.
Flacco finished 25 of 32 for 261 yards with two touchdowns and Rice had 26 rushes for 157 yards and seven receptions for 54 yards.
Last year the Ravens lost to the Patriots after then Baltimore kicker Billy Cundiff missed a potential game-tying, 32-yarder against New England in the waning seconds of the AFC Championship Game. This time the Ravens were winning 21-17 after safety Ed Reed picked off Tom Brady and ran 31-yards for a touchdown.
But the Ravens' defense could not stop the Patriots on the ensuing drive and the offense couldn't muster up another score with threw minutes left in the game. Flacco was sacked twice- once by defensive end Chandler Jones and the other by linebacker Jerod Mayo. On third and long Flacco tossed an interception to safety Patrick Chung, effectively sealing the game. Do you think Madden NFL '13 got tonight's game right? Comment below.
