“Marco Polo” will be applying a different kind of approach for its second season thanks to some released photos. If those are any indication, it will be live up to its R-rating and offer sexier and racier episodes with its cast.
New characters are in tow and it remains to be seen if “Marco Polo” can get back into the game. The show has shown a notable decline in the rankings and such has led many to believe that a third season is no longer happening.
As mentioned in a previous post, Netflix has not issued anything official on whether the series will get a third season. If that were decided on today, the ratings will likely have the answer to that.
Nevertheless, the bold move is something that could save the show if the ranking improve. The show has added Michelle Yeoh to the mix, whose character is expected to add new flavor to the series.
With a veteran actress to the mix, that could also mean the requirement of a larger budget. If so, that further places the show in peril. “Marco Polo” is already touted to be one of the more expensive shows right now so new stars in the mix will mean added talent fees.
Focus on season 2 for now
With “Marco Polo’s” fate up in the air, the best thing for fans to do right now is look forward to what the second season has to offer. It may be an uphill climb to gain the approval of the show runners but the ‘show must go on’.
The fate of “Kublai Khan” (Benedict Wong) hangs in the balance and the season 2 finale could be a sign of things to come. “Prester John” was seen approaching a Mongol Camp where “Khan” and others were staying but “Marco Polo” (Lorenzo Richelmy) was able to warn them in advance.
If “Marco Polo” season 3 happens, “Prester John” will likely be a key protagonist with “Kublai Khan’s” fate hanging in the balance.
