A film tied to Square Enix's upcoming "Final Fantasy XV" will finally hit select theaters in the United States on Aug. 19. The publisher and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the release dates of "Kingsglaive" along with a new trailer for its fans during San Diego Comic-Con.
'Kingsglaive' New Release Dates
The CGI film based on "Final Fantasy XV" was first announced in March. While "Kingsglaive" was released in Japan earlier this month, it will be available in select theaters in the US on Aug. 19, Gamespot reported.
As discussed during Square Enix's panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con, "Kingsglaive" will be digitally released on Aug. 30 and will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on Oct. 4. "Kingsglaive" will be available for download from popular streaming digital download channels on Aug. 30.
While it may take some time for the physical copy to be available, fans may get a Blu-Ray copy a bit earlier. "Kingsglaive" will be included in "Final Fantasy XV" Deluxe Edition, which will be released on Sept. 30. Alternatively, "Kingsglaive" will also be included in the Ultimate Collector's Edition.

'Final Fantasy: Kingsglaive' Story Plot
"Kingsglaive" features Aaron Paul from "Breaking Bad," Lena Heady from "Game of Thrones" and Sean Bean from "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones." The film will be set in "Final Fantasy XV" world, with its new and crossover characters as well.
Polygon sat down with "Kingsglaive" director Takeshi Nozue. Takeshi previously co-directed another CGI "Final Fantasy" film titled "Advent of Children." He shared with the website why Square Enix has decided to make another CGI film.
"The current generation consoles haven't necessarily taken off around the world," Nozue explained why "Kingsglaive" was created. "We wanted to be able to reach a wider audience. A film gave us a lot more opportunity to reach more people."
More so, Takeshi mentioned that the reception of "Kingsglaive" has been astounding in Japan. Some of the fans went as far as saying that the film is 100 times better than "Advent Children."
