NFL Rumors 2016: David Amerson Earns $38 Million Deal After Turning Back On Video Games

Video games have been known to be great pastimes for anyone. They are addicting and an NFL player (David Amerson) can attest to that.

The 27-year-old cornerback came into the league back in 2013 with the 51st pick of the NFL Draft. He played for the Washington Redskins but was far from impressive. After two seasons, he was eventually cut but was given a second chance to prove himself by the Oakland Raiders.

After a forgettable two years with the Redskins, David Amerson improved with the Raiders. He started for 12 games, had four interceptions and defended 25 passes, CBS reported. It was a marked improvement from his Redskin days and many were curious at how he was able to do it.

Video games blamed

Speaking at CSN California, Amerson revealed how the change started when he got home. Instead of playing video games, he went over the team playbook and watched videos against upcoming assignments.

Amerson says that the effort may not be that much but it certainly helped him improve after a forgetful two years in Washington. In short, it was a matter of focus and being prepared before the Raiders took the field.

"I was in the right mindset and the right maturity level and professionalism. I was taking that transition of becoming a professional. I think it worked out for the best," said Amerson.

Thing now rolling for Amerson

Amerson will get the chance to play video games and this may likely come in the offseason. It was a matter of fixing his priorities and he obviously made the right ones.

Proof of that is Amerson has been given a contract extension worth $38 million. Amerson would have had that coming since entering the NFL in 2013. Then again, the important thing is he was able to separate his love for video games and football. The result was worth millions!
