With no official "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date being announced, fans of the fantasy series are left speculating on what's going to happen next season. While the series is still in its pre-production phase, details are understandably still a bit sketchy at best. For now, the latest details were coaxed out from a "Shadowhunters" cast. Jade Hassoune plays Melion, a half faerie or better known as Seelie in Shadowhunters speak. While even Hassoune doesn't have details of a "Shadowhunters' season 2 release date at the moment, he did reveal some exciting details about the FreeForm fantasy series which makes for good "Shadowhunters" season 2 spoilers.
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 Spoilers - Season To Follow "City of Ashes" Storyline
It seems Cassandra Clare fans will be having a field day when "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date finally comes. Why? It seems that they'll be getting a season that will try to stick to Clare's second book "City of Ashes," according to latest "Shadowhunters" season 2 spoilers.
In an interview with myFanbase, Jade Hassoune revealed that he expects the "Shadowhunters" season 2 to follow the storyline of Clare's "City of Ashes" this time. Of course, deviations from the source material are inevitable but generally, fans could expect a plot that adopts to its novel origins when "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date finally arrives.
"Of course I'll be back and now we can expect to get into the real storyline of the second book," explains Hassoune to my Fanbase. "Obviously there will be some changes, Simon wasn't a vampire yet when they all visited the Seelie Court in book 2."

Fans who are more romantically inclined must have mused on this question more than a few times. Indeed, could a romance between a Seelie (Meliorn) and a Shadowhunter (Izzy) blossom when "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date comes?
Unfortunately, "Shadowhunters" season 2 spoilers are quite blunt in their answer on this one. While the two characters might have genuine feelings for each other, a romance for the two is just not possible under the circumstances.
Jade Hassoune was asked if Meliorn and Izzy's relationship is just a way of extracting information from each other's camps or if they really do care for each other. Hassoune explains that it is both. While they do care for each other genuinely, they are also not shy about using the relationship to serve their races' agenda.
It's a win-win situation for now but Hassoune cautions it might not last for long. Belonging to different races who have different agendas and having their own different obligations are bound to get in the way, when "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date arrives.

Freeform has not announced an official launch date for now. However, most agree that the "Shadowhunters" season 2 release date would likely happen early 2017.
