Nickelodeon recently launched its first same-sex married couple. The presence of the special pair in the new show, "The Loud House," means another step forward for the LGBT community.
In the past few years, modern children's TV shows have been introducing more diversity in terms of race, color, education and religious background. Nickelodeon's The Loud House show features diversity in terms of sexual orientation as well as rae.
PerezHilton reported that Nickelodeon's The Loud House features an interracial relationship, consisting of a black and white male pair named Harold and Howard McBride. The voice actors behind the Loud House characters are Wayne Brady and Michael McDonald, respectively.
Mail Online wrote that the story of "The Loud House" focuses on a young boy named Lincoln Loud who tries to go through life with his 10 sisters. The parents of his best friend, Clyde McBride, will soon be shown in the all-new episode of The Loud House on July 20, 2016.
The gay couple will meet Lincoln as they drop off their son to a slumber party at the Loud House.
Based on preview images of the upcoming episode, the same-sex couple are apparently very protective of their son.
When they dropped Clyde off at the Loud House, they had so many things packed for him just for the event, including a humidifier, a dehumidifier, an inhaler, sleeping bag, pajamas, a white noise machine and earplugs, among others. The amusing scene did not draw attention to the couple's sexual orientation but on their cautious and protective nature.
The upcoming presence of the gay couple on "The Loud House" has garnered mixed reactions from viewers. Some commended the show for properly representing the LGBT community.
Others thought that the couple behaved like any normal parent would, which should drive people's attention away from their same-sex marriage. There were also others who did not appreciate "The Loud House" for forcing the issue upon them.
"The Loud House" is the first Nickelodeon cartoon that features a same-sex married couple. However, there are several other shows that presented gay couples in the past, such as "The Legend of Korra," "Gravity Falls," "Steven Universe," "Good Luck Charlie" and "Clarence," among others.
More Nickelodeon shows are expected to do the same in the near future.
The Loud House episode, titled "Overnight Success," is set to air on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 on Nickelodeon. More updates and details are expected soon.
