Not to advertise, but Avalance Studios have posted a job listing for a vehicle designer over at Gamasutra for their next "open world game" offering a "variety of vehicles which extend far beyond traditional cars."
Maybe this is reading too much into things, but it smells like they're wandering into Just Cause 3 territory. Good news for any Just Cause fans, or any out od work designers with a penchant for vehicular destruction.
According to the listing, "our plan is to deliver stunning vehicles in terms of handling, physics simulation and destruction rendition. Something no open world to date has yet achieved."
Is there any guarantee that this is indeed a position for Just Cause 3? Well, no. But Just Cause 2 certainly had it's fair share of strange vehicles, nearing about 120 total, and included some more peculiar vehicles like helicoptors, jets, boats, motorcycles, and of course, the Ice Cream truck. So while it's not really a huge leap to make in terms of liklihood, but the possibility remains it's for another game entirely.
Encouraging the rumor for another sequel is the fact that this past May, Just Cause distributor Square Enix reserved domains for Just Cause 3 and 4, and there's also rumors of a possible movie, titled "Just Cause: Scorpion Rising."
Obviously, there's a lot of work that goes into the development of games, so we can't expect to hear anything about Avalanche's next title until further notice, especially as "Avalanche Studios is developing for both current and next gen platforms." But if any of our dear readers happen to land the job, feel free to drop us a line and let us know what's going on. I can promise...cookies.
