"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is coming soon as HBO recently affirmed most of the rumors that are going around about the hit TV series. One of the things which the network confirmed was the airing date.
On July 18, via press release, HBO informed the fans about the airing date of "Game of Thrones" Season 7. The broadcasting network relayed that the latest sequel will premiere in the summer of 2017 instead of the usual spring season. The delay is due to the fact, that the show must be shot in winter setting.
"We're starting a bit later because at the end of this season, 'Winter is here' - and that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes any more," Entertainment Weekly quoted showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss as saying. "So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot," they added.
Who will be in the "Game of Thrones" seventh season installment?
The confirmed cast members include Kit Harington (as Jon Snow), Lena Headey (as Cersei), Peter Dinklage (as Tyrion), Emilia Clarke (as Daenerys) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (as Jaime). All of them already signed a contract for GoT's sequels since 2014 and it was reported that they will be staying until the eight and last season.
How many episodes will "Game of Thrones" have for Season 7?
In 2016, when HBO renewed the show's contract for the seventh season, the officials refused to say the number of episodes that they intend to air. However, Michael Lombardo, the network's president of programming, previously hinted that GoT is ending in Season 8 and in June, Benioff and Weiss said that the next two seasons would be shorter.
Moreover, the showrunners had mentioned before that they were thinking of doing the entire series for just 70 to 75 hours, and most likely it will be 73 hours. Doing the math, since the first six seasons aired for a total of 60 hours already, then the remaining 13 hours will be divided up for the last two seasons.
This means that season 7 will probably air for seven episodes while the last installment will run for just six episodes. "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is going to be handled by four directors namely Jeremy Podeswa, Alan Taylor, Matt Shakman and Mark Mylod.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew of GoT is looking forward for more Emmy's as they were nominated again for 23 Primetime awards this year. Relive "Game of Thrones" episode 10 of Season 6 by watching the clip below:
