Apart from the Mechromancer, no one's quite sure what sort of DLC players will expect to get for Borderlands 2, save for Gearbox staff. And the Gearbox boss man may have just given us some DLC bait to nibble on.
At 2K's Borderlands 2's panel at the Gearbox Community Day, Gearbox president and CEO Randy Pitchford told fans to think "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi."
So, we're going to be able to blow up an under construction Death Star? Maybe drop a grizzled old man in robes down an air shaft? Lightsabres?!? NO, not lightsabres. Borderlands is about guns. Lots of guns. Bazillions of guns! And maybe some new vehicles to boot.
In Pitchford's own words, "I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff. I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."
Hmmm, a bit anti-climactic, but I'm game. Gearbox has a history of doing DLC right with Borderlands. From "The Secret Armory of General Knox," to "Claptrap's Robot Revolution," each DLC provided players with hours more gameplay, and was easily worth the money.
Gearbox has at least four DLC packs planned for released by June 2013. If price is a bit of a factor for you, you can still grab "The Borderlands 2 Season Pass," which offers all four packs for the price of three, $30, and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC when the game releases on September 18th.
In addition to the new DLC, Borderlands 2 features a brand new roster of playable characters, and new enemy types to blast holes is. And the OG vault hunters are still on-planet as well. You'll be able to accept missions from Mordecai, Roland, Lilith, and Brick. As for the new faces, if you haven't read about them yet, here's all the information you'll need right here, and check out the launch trailer here.
Borderlands 2 is out today for PC, PS3, and XBox 360. Head to the store and pick up your copy, or be a lazy bum and sit on your couch while it downloads. The Borderlands await.
