One of the new additions to “Fast and Furious 8” will be veteran actress Helen Mirren with many wondering if she would get the chance to get behind the wheels of any vehicle next year. As it turns out she will be called on to act, meaning no death-defying stunts.
Mirren confirmed to Elle that her role will not include getting behind the wheel. While she does admit that she loves driving, it is likely more on the risk involved with the daring car stunts that “Fast and Furious” has been known to offer.
Helen Mirren playing villain in 'Fast and Furious' 8?
While she confirms not being involved in any driving, she may end up on the passenger seat. So the next question is will it be on the good or bad side?
In the same article, Mirren (along with Vin Diesel) joked about the actress being one of the villains for the film. There is no word yet on what Mirren will be exactly doing with production currently underway.
In the event that she does play villain, Mirren could have ties with “Ian Shaw” (Jason Statham) or even “Cipher” (Charlize Theron). Looking over the storylines and the cast members, her insertion is a mystery though tying her up with the new threat could make the best sense.
Further backing up a possible villain role for Mirren was a previous report on Yahoo. Mirren mentioned last year that she wouldn’t mind playing the bad guy (or girl) though all that remains in the air.
Mirren is set to join the cast and crew of “Fast and Furious 8”, admitting that she was pretty nervous and the she will come in technically a newbie.
“Fast and Furious 8” is slated to hit theaters on April 14, 2017 with most of the members back led by Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson. Mirren and Cipher will be joined by other new faces such as Kristofer Hivju (“Game of Thrones”) and Scott Eastwood.
