ROCCAT Offering Cash and Hardware Prizes for League of Legends Fall Open Cup

Gaming peripheral manufacturer ROCCAT promises to make the League of Legends Fall Open Cup a little more interesting this year by offering a cash prize of $2,500 to winners, as well as additional hardware prizes. The hardware in question will be the new ROCCAT Isku FX keyboard, the ROCCAT Lua mouse, and the ROCCAT Hiro.

ROCCAT has additionally sponsored hardware prizes for several other Fall cups on ClanBase for this upcoming 26th season, for a total value of more than US$4000. ClanBase run the Spring and the Fall season cups - and have done so for more than 13 years, making it one of the oldest running tournaments in video gaming.

In just two years since it's 2009 release, Forbes reports that "League of Legends is now officially the most played PC game in North America and Europe. When you add in the rise of the game in Korea, where it's already beating out StarCraft II as the most popular game, it's clear that League of Legends is here to stay." As of November 2011, League of Legends had over 32 million registrations and averages millions of players per day, with the number of concurrent users online at any given time peaking over half a million, doubling its player base in 4 months.
