"Jurassic Park," was a cautionary tale about imprudent genetic tampering. The question of what can we accomplish versus should we accomplish played a large role in the novel.
Famed director Steven Spielberg ultimately turned the story in a hugely successful film franchise. The film won 3 Oscars, 19 other awards, and 15 nominations. But what if James Cameron made the film? The director recently sat down with The Huffington Post and revealed that he was bidding for the film rights to the "Jurassic Park" novel.
"I tried to buy the book rights and he beat me to it by a few hours," Cameron told the Huffington Post. "But when I saw the film, I realized that I was not the right person to make the film, he was. Because he made a dinosaur movie for kids, and mine would have been aliens with dinosaurs, and that wouldn't have been fair."
The novel with more adult themes than the film, and in many aspects was a modern-day version of as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the scientist at times were the most terrifying creatures in the book. Their egos could have stopped the jaws of tyrannosaurs.
Cameron explained he would have made the film much nastier, but did not go into explicit details of how he would have done so.
"Dinosaurs are for 8-year-olds. We can all enjoy it, too, but kids get dinosaurs and they should not have been excluded for that. His sensibility was right for that film, I'd have gone further, nastier, much nastier."
