'Star Wars' Book 'Aftermath: Life Debt' Reveals The True Identity Of First Order's Supreme Leader Snoke

Chuck Wendig recently launched "Aftermath: Life Debt," his second book in the Star Wars Aftermath trilogy, which spawned new theories among fans. Among other things, the "Aftermath: Life Debt" story revealed the true identity of Supreme Leader Snoke.

Nerdist wrote that "Aftermath: Life Debt" is set just after the Battle of Endor in Episode VI. There are several new characters, although familiar ones were also featured like Han Solo.

The "Aftermath: Life Debt" title was inspired by Chewbacca, who swore a life debt to Han after he saved the Wookiee from slavery. The plot also delved more into the unique relationship of Han and Princess Leia Organa.

ScreenRant stated that Aftermath: Life Debt fans were particularly intrigued by the true identity of Supreme Leader Snoke, head of the First Order. Some believe that the writers are slowly introducing Snoke's rise to power using canon materials away from the film franchise. There are "Aftermath: Life Debt" fans who believe that The Operator is actually Snoke.

The Operator is a character who was frequently mentioned in Aftermath: Life Debt. He is a mysterious admiral in the Empire who also functions similarly to a double agent.

Later on, it was shown that The Operator's real name is Admiral GalliusRax, and there are theories that he may be the designer of the First Order. "Aftermath: Life Debt" allegedly provided more evidence that supports the theory that The Operator is Snoke.

In "Aftermath: Life Debt," The Operator shared his vision with Admiral Rae Sloane. He stated how the Empire turned into an ugly, crude and inefficient machine which has to be broken into pieces.

He continued that some individuals who do not share his vision of a new Empire should be eliminated. A new Empire has to be forged, which will be worth of the galaxy that it will rule.

Snoke witnessed several huge events in the Empire and one of his objectives appears to involve honoring the old government and improving its ways. His mindset is actually quite similar to Admiral Rax in "Aftermath: Life Debt."

Rax's plan to create a Shadow Council and connection with the Hux family further strengthens the concept that he is the Supreme Leader in his younger years. Rax came from the planet Jakku and was discovered by Emperor Palpatine after he snuck aboard the Imperialis. Palpatine told him that he senses his potential and destiny.

Although Rax is not described as Force sensitive in "Aftermath: Life Debt," Lucasfilm may eventually feature Rax having been taught by Palpatine about the Force.

"Aftermath: Life Debt" was released on July 12, 2016.
