The WWE is nearing the much awaited WWE Draft and CEO Vince McMahon just set the groundwork by assigning his children as commissioners for RAW and Smackdown. Stephanie McMahon will hold to fort for WWE Raw as Shane McMahon will be tasked to manage WWE Smackdown.
The WWE Draft will take place next week (July 19) though the hype may be just beginning. With the announcement, there is a new twist in the mix in the form of general managers. Vince McMahon wants his children to compete and believes that adding new GMs will be a key element.
Who are the candidates for the GM positions?
The weeks have seen the likes of Theodore Long, Vicki Guerrero and John Laurinaitis appearing on shows, hinting that any of them could be getting the general manager position soon.
All three had their chances of running WWE shows and technically did a good job. But there are only two vacancies to fill so it will be interesting if the choice of the McMahons will be among the three.
Other candidates
On a separate note, the appearances could be nothing more than a tease. The three have rarely been seen so the WWE could go with some wrestlers who have retired but still carry a big following.
One name that comes to mind is Daniel Bryan. Everyone knows how the “Yes Man’s” career was cut short due to health reasons but the bearded one does have a following. He did serve on an interim basis in 2014 so he could be another choice.
Kane is someone who has been calling some shots though he has been technically working double-time (as the “Demonic Kane”). Triple H has yet to return to the scene and could hook up with his wife Stephanie.
Other candidates could include “Sting”, “Shawn Michaels” or even “Mick Foley”. The list seems endless and could technically be anyone. Shane will take first crack by naming his general manager at WWE Smackdown this Thursday while Stephanie’s turn comes on WWE Raw this Monday.
