Dressed in our scarlet robes we take the Quidditch pitch, prepared to battle the tenacious Slytherin team in the first game of the Qudditch season. I grasp the handle of my Nimbus 2000 broomstick and fly quickly into the air, swerving slightly due to my nerves.
I search for the tiny golden Snitch, I fly backward and forward across the field. Red and green flying shapes passing me by at high speeds. I spotted the Snitch only to lose it again after being fouled by Slytherin Captain Marcus Flint.
The Snitch appears right in front of me and I race after the flying golden ball in a rush; two Slytherin players are on my tail. I am moving at a fast speed, ducking and dodging pass obstacles through an elaborate system of tunnels.
I resurface in the middle of the field, the Snitch within my grasp. I reach out and clasp my hand around the golden orb. We win the match.
That is basically how the first stage of Harry Potter for Kinect, plays out, but with a lot of leaning to the right and left for the player. Sometimes you duck and sometimes you have to jump that is pretty much how the game is played.
Harry Potter for Kinect is based on all eight Harry Potter films and features scenes from all of the movies. Harry Potter for Kinect demo features a Qudditch Match, a dangerous trip through the bowel of the Wizard bank with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and a mission as a Neville Longbottom.
The Xbox 360's motion-sensing camera peripheral works great during the Quidditch game, but in other missions in the demo the sensor was too slow. It is often a second late at translating your real-life movement to the in game character. These miscuez resulted in many frustrating deaths.
Hopefully the game's maker Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be able to tweak the game before its releases on Oct. 9, for the Xbox 360 and Kinect. The Demo is now available for download on Xbox Live. I give the demo a 5/10, the Quidditch segment was fun, but other two missions were not very good
