A lot of questions are in the air on whether the rebooted “MacGyver” can live up to the action-filled series back in the mid-80s that starred Richard Dean Anderson. Based on reports, all those will be answered right from the pilot episode.
“MacGyver” 2016 will see Lucas Till in the lead role and first look videos reveal how the rebooted series by CBS will go. The pilot episode fids Till hanging on to dear life as part of a high flying sequence as he tries to take the aircraft down with a mere Swiss Army Knife, TV Line reported.
Sporting the same wardrobe (Angus “Mac” jacket) that Anderson had in the series which rolled from 1985 to 1992, Till will be having a slightly different hair style this time around.
Aside from the “X-Men” star (Havok), “McGyver” 2016 will also include other cast members like former CSI star George Eads who will play CIA Agent “Jack Dalton”. James Wan will be directing the pilot episode slated to premiere on Sept. 23.
“Conjuring” director behind the pilot episode reboot
“MacGyver” had its share of ups and downs. In fact the upcoming pilot is a totally new one since CBS opted to scrap the original one and create a new one, Variety reported. Till and Eads were retained but the supporting cast has been revamped. Among the new faces include Justin Hire, best known for “Rush Hour”.
James Wan took on the task of directing thanks to an opening in his scheduled. He is best known to be the one behind “Conjuring 2” which churned in a cool $40.4 million in the box office last weekend. With that smashing success, the word is out that Wan will be working on a “Conjuring 2” spin-off titled “The Nun”.
Peter Lenkov, Craig O’Neill, Henry Winkler, Lee Zlotoff and Michael Clear will back up Wan as the executive producers which is expected this Fall.
