It's not like the Halo franchise is ending soon, but 343 Industries' move to cease any more expansion such as the Warzone Firefight literally leans to that direction.
In the latest Halo 5 Guardians update, the Warzone Firefight is the sixth and one of the largest expansion given to the game. This made Halo 5 one of the most played games in the franchise.
But like any other major franchise that served its time, 343 Industries said that, the move to stop launching expansions to Halo 5 Guardians is a step towards its eventual demise. In the Halo Waypoint Blog, the game developer said acknowledges the fans rally to play the game despite plans to stop updating the game.
It stated there that, the massive number of fans that took advantage of the free-to-play game was overwhelming. Luckily, for the Halo 5 Guardians, it will not be a simple stoppage on updates. In fact, 343 Industries vowed to manage some few updates for the game, but not on a monthly the monthly basis that gamers used to expect.
Meanwhile, according to Gameranx, halo 5 Guardians received the most numbers of players since Halo 3. The surge of players was initially brought by the free-to-play offer. One of the most prominent titles within the franchise has been the Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo Reach. Halo 5 Guardians however, took the spotlight with the massive following and the latest expansion brought by 343 Industries; the Warzone Fight.
Halo Combat Evolved is the first in the franchise and was launched in 2001 while Halo Reach, developed by Bungie launched in 2007 after Bungie separated the Halo 3 series to ODST and Halo Reach.
