Captain America: The Winter Soldier Begins Shooting in March of Next Year

While spending time in the Great white north (that's Canada to you and me) promoting his film "The Ice Man," Chris Evans let slip to Collider's Editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub, that filming for the Captain America sequel, "The Winter Soldier," is set to begin this March.

With "Iron Man 3" currently in production, and "Thor: The Dark World" getting ready to begin shooting, "The Winter Soldier" is the last of the announced sequels scheduled to hit the big screen. "The Winter Soldiers" is earmarked for a release date of April, 2014. That gives it about a year before "The Avengers" sequel arrives in theatres.

So what's Marvel to do with all that time?

Make even more movies, ones featuring characters that could expand the roster for the Avengers sequel. We already know that Edgar Wright an Ant-Man movie is in the works, and there's rumors of another standalone Hulk movies, as well as other super hero movies, like Black Panther and Doctor Strange as well.

Of course this is only a theory, and nothing has been confirmed by either Marvel, or its parent company Disney. But definitely make sure you stick around after the credits once "Iron Man 3" is finished. Ditto for "Thor 2: The Dark World." And Ant-Man too. And...well, you get the idea.

Here are the official release dates for Phase 2 of Marvel's cinematic universe:

  • Iron Man 3 - May 3rd, 2013
  • Thor: The Dark World - November 8th, 2013
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4th, 2014
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1st, 2014
  • Avengers 2 - May 1st, 2015
  • Ant-Man - TBD (Possible 2014 release)

See you at the movies...
