Simon Kinberg seems to have a lot on his plate these days and the here is another one that is technically tied up to the “X-Men” franchise. This time around it involves one of the characters of the Marvel flick, “Gambit”.
Following his interview covering the status of a possible next “X-Men” film franchise, the report we brought to you yesterday covered the upcoming film “Wolverine 3” and “Deadpool 2”. Both are independent films to compliment the “X-Men” franchise and now a third one could gain some ground.
There has been nothing credible yet tied up to “Gambit” with issues reportedly covering the right script for the film. But based on his interview on “That Hashtag Show” via Comic Book Resources, that row may finally be over. In fact the script issue seems to have been resolved with filming for “Gambit” set to get underway by Spring 2017.
Doug Liman is still at the director’s chair and Channing Tatum remains the lead star to portray the card-dealing mutant. This should be an interesting back story to look forward to despite the controversies surrounding its production. Among them include Liman’s alleged push to recast the film according to
Nerdist.
Aside from Tatum, there is no word on whether Lea Seydoux will still be part of “Gambit”. In the same report, Seydoux was to play the part of “Bella Donna Bordeaux”, the love interest of “Gambit”. If the producers are to maintain key parts of the mutant’s story, “Bella Donna” is seen as someone important.
The filming schedule revelation should be welcome news to Marvel fans though adding a target release date could sweeten the updates a bit more. Fox has two dates available for possible “X-Men” related spinoffs, March 2 and June 29. There is a chance that “Gambit” could be factored into one of those dates.
