The much anticipated sequel of the sci-fi movie "Avatar 2" is reported to hit the cinemas on 2017. However, James Cameron, the director of the movie, said that the release date will be pushed back because "Star Wars Episode 8" has planned to premiere on the same date with "Avatar 2" movie.
Another 'Avatar 2' delay now confirmed
The "Avatar 2" predecessor was released six years ago and broke records as one of the best sci-Fi movies of all time. The story focuses on some humans who goes to a planet full of resources and tries to harvest it for themselves but the Omaticaya clan, the habitants of the planet, stops the humans in destroying their land.
Years have passed already passed and the movie goers have already grown anxious to see "Avatar 2" movie. According to reports on HNGN, director James Cameron has said he does not want to compete with another potentially epic film; 'Star Wars'.
"My original plan was to release them a year apart, but we're opening that up. If for no other reason than that I don't want to land on the same date as one of the 'Star Wars' sequels," "Avatar 2" director James Cameron said. "I don't want to go head-to-head with 'Star Wars.' That would be stupid. And hopefully they won't go head-to head with us."
'Avatar 2' possible character comebacks
Per Deadline, director James Cameron is planning to take the Stephen Lang's character, Col. Miles Quaritch back on "Avatar 2." It can be recalled that Quaritch was shot by two arrows that lead to his death.
However, with the production wanting the character back, maybe Stephen Lang's character has survived the attack and is now still alive. Meanwhile, GamenGuide has previously reported that Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) will return in the "Avatar 2" movie.
