NBA 2K13 Release Date: New Trailer Features Legendary Rapper Biggie (Watch Here)

The gritty experiences of the basketball court are echoed in the husky vocals of hip-hop legend, The Notorious B.I.G. The marriage of hip-hop and basketball is evident in the new official trailer of NBA 2K13.

This year, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z serves as executive producer of the game and his influence is obvious early in this trailer.

The video begins with the haunting bells and melancholy vocals of the 1998 rap single "Victory," and are followed by collage of great NBA player both historic and contemporary.  The sounds of the court are integrated perfectly into the song.

The black and white game footage gives the viewer the impression that 2K Sports is taking an all or nothing approach to this year's title and is expecting to ambush all would be challengers styles and grit.

Player that pre-order the game will receive downloadable content for an All Star Weekend, which features the Slam Dunk Contest, Three Point Contest, Rising Stars Challenge, and the NBA All Star Game. Another notable feature in the game will be the inclusion of the 1992 and 2012 United States men's national basketball teams. The game will also have new legends for this year's edition.

NBA 2K13 is developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. The Basketball simulation's release date is scheduled for Oct. 2, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows and Wii. A Wii U version will be released at a later date when that system launches.

NBA 2K13 features Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls as the game's cover athletes.
