Jeremy Lin’s coming to the Brooklyn Nets has expectedly spurred up (yet again) hopes to see “Linsanity 2.0” though first year head coach Kenny Atkinson doesn’t see it that way. In fact, he finds it unfair to place such big expectations for a player who just got his bearings back last year.
Instead, Atkinson has other expectations for Jeremy Lin. Rather than carry the team on his shoulders, he expect the American-Asian guard to help hone the team’s resident star player – Brook Lopez.
Atkinson didn’t hide the fact that he expects Jeremy Lin to recall his old form. He has been credited by Lin himself on making “Linsanity” happen but that was not the main purpose of bringing him in according to the New York Post.
One strength of Jeremy Lin’s game is his effectiveness using the pick-and-roll. With Lopez, he hopes to see that such will work for the star center who needs a complimenting player to make him stand out.
Lopez has been known to be a good passer and the partnership could work as well for Jeremy Lin. The former Harvard University standout is expected to do the same kind of play he has been doing through the years, driving towards the basket and creating opportunities.
“I definitely think he can help Brook, and Brook can help him. That’s a pretty big target. It’s a guy who can score in the pick-and-roll, and it’s a guy that can make a pass. It’s a nice combination, and relieve a little bit of that [pressure]. Brook was in a lot of [isolation] situations where he had to create his own. Hopefully we can make it easier for him and therefore make him more efficient.”
Jeremy Lin knows that he needs to step up and act as one of the leaders of the Nets. He knows that this will be his biggest role yet and mentioned such via the Nets Daily.
Jeremy Lin agreed to a multi-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, another chance at stardom. He failed to achieve that with the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers but somehow redeemed himself last year with the Charlotte Hornets.
