Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 in a couple of months meaning that the iPhone 6s will likely experience some individual shelving. Ironically, the iPhone 7 design will borrow some features from its predecessor with major design changes saved for 2017.
With the iPhone 7 imminently coming, it only seems normal to see some folks trying to dispose their old iPhone 6s handsets. At this stage, the price to get a second hand iPhone 6s is expected to be lower though the word out is that the resale value continues to be competitive.
iPhone 6s price still high
Word of such comes from analyst Gene Muster of Piper Jaffray who has been keeping track of the iPhone 6s resale value on eBay. After 288 days of being out in the market, he notes that the iPhone 6s/ 6s Plus still maintains 78% of its retail price per reports from Apple Insider.
The noted price range is still better to Apple’s other device, the iPhone 6/ 6 Plus. For this variant, the retail price still retains about 73% which is not that bad as well.
Overall, this speaks well on the stability of the iPhone 6s resale market meaning Apple’s business is still healthy. It could also be linked to the fact that the iPhone 7 is believed to be something carrying minimal changes, not to mention something that will look similar to its predecessor.
Trade-in or stick with the iPhone 6s
The months have seen an ongoing debate on whether Apple loyalists should stick with the iPhone 6s or get the new iPhone 7 once it launches in September. Changes are meager and mostly concentrated from within aside from the fact that it will have a thinner make.
That includes a dual-lens camera, more powerful processors and improved waterproofing. Given these minor upgrades, getting one or holding off until Apple unveils the iPhone 8 is something left entirely at the hands of the end buyer.
