Earlier today, the official "Overwatch" Twitter account tweeted a very interesting picture. It's a schematic of a new weapon—a weapon that could possibly belong to a new hero debuting soon.

The weapon, which Overwatch in-game engineer Torbjörn Lindholm designed, seems to be a sniper rifle that could heal people from a distance, and it pretty much points to a new support/sniper character that will be debuting soon enough. According to the tweet, Dr. Angela Ziegler, also known as Mercy in the game, was in support of a rifle that could heal, but is now against it after considering that the rifle can be easily modified to deal damage just the same.
The new character might finally be the rumored Sombra, a support sniper whose involvement in the game has been teased in several details, including easter eggs players can find in the game's maps. (Other characters introduced later were also hinted at in this way.) People in the "Overwatch" subreddit have made some very interesting (and sound) connections and discoveries, especially from a Gamespot documentary that may have leaked a build of the game that already has Sombra in it.
To add fuel to the fire, Jeff Kaplan, "Overwatch"'s game director, made a pretty strong hint about Sombra in an interview with Eurogamer last month, saying that it was about time fans and players started speculating on the character after all the hints and easter eggs they've been dropping both inside and outside the game.
It's likely that we'll get a new update with the character within the next couple of months, as the "Overwatch" team has been hard at work on improving the game and adding new features. The game's Competitive Play mode just went live last week, and at this rate we're bound to get something new soon enough.
