Today, Apple sent out its official invitations for its September event where it's suspected by many they'll be announcing a release date for its next-gen model of the iPhone.
The main clue? Well, just look at the image, specifically, the twelve's shadow.

Either it's the biggest misdirection EVER, or they know exactly what they're doing.
There've been quite a few "leaks" lately, everything from comparison shots to earbuds, all claiming to give the scoop on what Apple's next phone will have to offer. Analyst Gene Munster writes, "We believe the iPhone 5 will have a completely redesigned body style, which may more closely resemble the metallic rear panel of the current iPad. We believe there is a 50% chance the new phone has a slightly larger 4+" screen...Beyond the redesigned body and screen, we believe the new phone will include 4G LTE, upgraded processor and memory, and a higher megapixel camera."
As far as what's under the hood, it's generally believed that the iPhone 5 will have: an A5 chip, and to help improve the phone's performance, a larger quantity of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, 1080 video recording capability, a more powerful battery capable of supporting improved performances.
As per usual, Apple hasn't offered any confirmations as to what the phone will offer technologically, when it's coming, how much it will cost...or pretty much anything, really.
The Loop is reporting that the event will take place September 12, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA,10:00 AM. We'll know then for sure what Apple has planned. If it is indeed iPhone related, some have even gone so far to say that the device will become available just over a week later, on Sept. 21.
