'Minecraft' Latest News & Update: Player Creates Working Game Boy Advance Emulator With Pokemon Inside Game [VIDEO]

"Minecraft" players are an interesting, creative, and hardworking bunch.

Some have made entire cities out of the millions of blocks, and some have erected amazing statues and whatnot, but everyone is now put to shame by the most awesome "Minecraft" creation by far: a Game Boy Advance emulator. A Game Boy Advance emulator that runs "Pokemon FireRed."

It's all the brainchild of Redditor Requag, who had the bright idea of recreating another game inside "Minecraft." We have no idea how they've managed to do it, and we probably wouldn't understand how it works even if it were explained to us.

Of course, a creation this elaborate wouldn't be perfect on the first try. The model Game Boy Advance and the emulator, built using "Minecraft"'s structure blocks (the building blocks of every, uh, building you can see and make in the game), can definitely run "Pokemon FireRed," but the work in progress is still missing key features—namely, combat and dialogue, two of the most important things you need to play a "Pokemon" game. Don't worry, though, as Requag has promised that this is exactly what they're working on.

And perhaps it might never be a full "Pokemon" game, says Polygon. No matter how faithful the recreation tries to be, "Minecraft" doesn't have full input capability to get a game as elaborate as "Pokemon" to fully and smoothly work as it was intended, but it is still pretty interesting to see what other kinds of things people can make in "Minecraft." Players don't have to mod the game in order to be able to try out the emulator; all that's needed is "Minecraft" version 1.10. More information on the recreation can be found over at Planet Minecraft.
