Variety has just announced that AMC has picked up "Preacher" for a second season. AMC president Charlie Collier has even teased that the renewal will mean fans will see more of Grant Ennis' colorful characters "in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond."
What does that mean? Perhaps it's finally time for a road trip!
"Preacher" Season 2 Will Focus On Jesse, Tulip And Cassidy On The Highway To Hell
In the Garth Ennis comic books, the "Preacher" storyline begins with Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy on a road trip. In the TV series, the gang is still stuck in Annville and Jesse is just getting used to his new power.
Suffice to say, "Preacher" Season 1 could serve as a prequel to what is expected to happen once Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy hit the road. But the question is, what will make everyone get in a car and start driving?
Will The Saints Of Killers Finally Find Jesse Before "Preacher" Season 2?
"Preacher" Season 1 continues to tease about the arrival of The Saint of Killers. In the comic books, the bounty hunter is searching for Jesse to get to Genesis.
But will The Saint of Killers ever make it to present day and face Jesse Custer in "Preacher" Season 1?
There is a possibility that The Saint of Killers will finally appear in "Preacher" Season 1 once Jesse finds out more about the entity that has possessed him.
Once Jesse learns that a bounty hunter is tracking him and that God is nowhere to be found, he will finally get his skinny butt on the road to look for the missing deity.
"Preacher" Season 2 could also introduce Jesse Custer's family, but that's a story that deserves more focus than just a footnote in this article.
"Sundowner" is the sixth episode of "Preacher" Season 1. The episode will air on AMC on July 3.
