In a move to add emotion and a bit of warmth to the game, “Dishonored 2” will have two main characters who will be voiced. “Corvo”, the same character from “Dishonored 1” will be returning fully voiced alongside “Emily” who will be voiced as well.
It should be worth noting that “Corvo” did not speak in the first “Dishonored 2” offering and creative director Harvey Smith shed more light on the change.
Who wanted voice added to "Corvo", "Emily"?
Smith bared that while “Corvo” did a fine job in “Dishonored 1”, Arkane was the one who made the call to arm them with the ability to speak. In an interview with Game Spot, arming both “Corvo” and “Emily” with voice is expected to make the game warmer and easier for gamers to navigate.
Adding voice to characters was experimented on in “Dishonored 1” through “Daud”. That was all part of the “Knife of Dunwall” DLC where actor Michael Madsen was the voice talent used for the character.
Apparently that “Daud” experiment was the catalyst that may have pushed game developers to voice “Corvo” and new character “Emily” in an effort to enhance game play direction.
More emotional involvement
Another highlight of adding the voiced characters on “Dishonored 2” is that game developers are leaning on emotional involvement. It addresses the warmer character ties mentioned earlier despite the fact that there were some who were against adding voice to the main protagonists.
The voice talents behind 'Corvo' and 'Emily'
Stephen Russell will be the voice behind “Corvo” while Erica Luttrell will be the one for “Emily”. The two voice talents have been there before. Russell’s voice was used in games like “Thief”, “Fallout 4” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” while Luttrell is best remembered on “The Magic School Bus” and “World of Warcraft”.
It will be interesting how things pan up for “Dishonored 2” with the two voiced characters. The game is expected to launch on Nov. 11 with versions for the PS 4 and Xbox One.
A “Dishonored 2” collector’s edition can be pre-ordered from the Bethesda Store for $100. A free copy of “Dishonored Definitive Edition” is included in the package.
