The Nintendo NX is expected to be out by March, 2017 but most were hoping to at least catch a glimpse of the new game console at E3. As many know by now, that never happened and many were left disappointed.
No reason had been given behind the non-appearance until Nintendo Legend Shigeru Miyamoto explained at a recent investor’s meeting why the Nintendo NX was not on display.
Based on his revelation, the decision not to show off the game console was to avoid ‘copycats’ according to Polygon.

From a perspective, ‘copycats’ sounds a bit vague. Was he taking a shot at Nintendo’s competitors (Sony and Microsoft)? Or was he referring to the black market who could come up with something cheaper but similar?
By all accounts, the main jab seems to be against Sony and Microsoft who are obviously keeping tabs. Nintendo’s tactic is nothing new and have in fact done the same in the past. A good example would be the Wii motion controller which was a big hit back then.
VR to be cornerstone?
With the Nintendo NX absence somehow explained, what are Miyamoto and company exactly hiding? For now there is no official word on what that could be though he did bare something involving VR research.
Applying a VR feature is not that surprising with Sony and Microsoft expected to lean towards that niche as well. That may not make it the standout feature everyone is trying to guess though spicing it up a bit could happen.
Miyamoto was not impressed with the VR technology he saw at E3 and right now it looks like Nintendo could be looking to offer a technology that would be comfortable and ideal for extended periods of time. This is likely the idea that was mentioned via the Associated Press.
