FX recently featured the new logo for "American Horror Story" Season 6, which caused a stir among fans. The mysterious symbol spurred speculations on the next theme of the horror anthology series.
The red and black logo initially surfaced on the social media accounts of FX on June 28, 2016. Previously, the people behind "American Horror Story" have been providing hints about the potential theme of upcoming seasons via their social media accounts. The new logo merely features the number 6, a question mark linked to it, and the network name, FX, in red font, against a plain black background.
Variety noted that not a lot of details have been revealed about "American Horror Story" Season 6 yet, although FX CEO John Landgraf previously said that the setting will be in the present day and include flashbacks. The story will be set in two time periods, although most of it will feature the present. Landgraf said that show creator Ryan Murphy did not permit him to divulge any more information, although it seems that they already have a set plot in place.
In another Variety report, a number of characters are also rumored to return in "American Horror Story" Season 6, namely Cheyenne Jackson, Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson. Ryan Murphy teased at PaleyFest that he can indicate from all the people who were with him, those who would be coming back in the new season. He was with Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare, Paulson and Jackson at the time. FX has not yet confirmed any returning actor.
ScreenRant said that Jessica Lange will not come back in "American Horror Story" Season 6. Bassett hinted that she may take on the role of a psychic, while Cheyenne and Lady Gaga are almost certain to return. The theme remains unknown, although the logo hints that there may be 666 references in the new story.
The series needs to return to its horrifying, violent and disturbing storytelling approach, instead of relying on popular actors, to drawn more viewers. AHS has been consistent in the first three seasons, although some fans felt that Season 4 lacked graphic violence and horror. Hopefully, the new season will bring back the elements that made the series very popular in the beginning.
"American Horror Story" Season 6 is expected to launch in fall 2016 on FX. More updates and details are expected in the following weeks.
