Back in April, the first ever world premiere of the "Doctor Strange" trailer premiered on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and on YouTube shortly after, sparking reactions from fans all over the world, as this was the very first time they saw Benedict Cumberbatch in action as the titular character himself. Due this November, the film features a number of fascinating and mind-bending scenes, as well as a glimpse of Stephen Strange as he strays from his path after surviving an accident that damages his hands. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Marvel head honcho, Kevin Feige.
As with many other film adaptations of material that originated as comics, there will be a lot of similarities and differences between the page and the on-screen characters. One difference fans should expect is Benedict Wong's character as, coincidentally, Wong.
"I’m certainly not going to be the tea-making manservant," the 44-year old "Prometheus" actor told Den of Geek. "We’re heading in a different direction. He’s more of a drill sergeant." "There isn’t any martial arts for Wong in Doctor Strange actually, he’s more of a drill sergeant to Kamar-Taj. He’s one of the masters of sorcery," Wong explained.
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch has gotten the stamp of approval from Dr. Stephen Strange himself, as Comic Book Resources reports that in the Christopher Hastings and Gurihiru's "Gwenpool" #3, Gwen Poole (who is really Gwen Stacy, just in an alternate world), encounters Dr. Strange and quips about Cumberbatch playing him in a movie.
"Fascinating. The people and events of our world leave...footprints in yours. Little recordings, retellings," Strange tells Gwen. He then sees a movie poster with Cumberbatch's face and comments, "Benedict Cumberbatch, eh? Sure, I could see that."
"Doctor Strange" will arrive on November 2, 2016.
