Lady Gaga had a 20-minute interview with the famous Dalai Lama at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Indianapolis on Sunday. The two known personalities were joined by a billionaire investor and was simultaneously broadcasted live on Facebook.
Dalai Lama's Take On Inequality
According to USA Today, Lady Gaga and Dalai Lama talked about compassion and kindness in the world full of injustice.
"We are a social animal, so individuals' future depends entirely on the community," Dalai Lama advised for everyone who was asking questions on social media about inequality.
Dalai Lama then explained that one should not avoid a disastrous thing to happen and try to look deeply to the situation. He added that there are many positive things once could see in these kinds of circumstances if they would only look at it in a wider perspective.
To make light of the event, Dalai Lama told Lady Gaga that he's already 81 years old with a lot of experiences bigger than what she knew. However, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter told him that she was much older than him, which ended with a laugh.
Kindness And Inner Peace
Dalai Lama and Lady Gaga also discussed about kindness as the renowned monk of the Gelug suggested that one should find his purpose in serving other people, as per Quartz.
"When you show more of a sense of concern for others' well-being, then you also get the feeling, 'I'm useful to others that bring self-confidence and meaning to life," Dalai Lama pointed out.
Dalai Lama also suggested that inner peace can be obtained by meditation by trying to contemplate of the main reason of their problems.
China Bans Lady Gaga
Meanwhile, as Chinese questioned the purpose of Dalai Lama's meeting with Lady Gaga, the Communist party bans the "American Horror Story" star in China, The Guardians reported.
Dalai Lama was dubbed as a "wolf in monk robes" by the angry people of Beijing, but he revealed he was only aiming for the independence of the Tibetans from the Chinese rule.
However, Dalai Lama was being accused of trying to separate the Himalayan region from China to create a theocratic rule.
After the Dalai Lama and Lady Gaga's meeting, Communist party's propaganda department issued an important instruction to ban the latter in mainland China.
