Steven Spielberg's film adaptation of Roland Dahl's much-loved children's book "The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)" is one of the most anticipated family films this summer. In preparation for Friday's opening, Disney released a few more clips to give everyone a glimpse of Spielberg's magical giant country.
Steven Spielberg And Mark Rylance Dynamic Duo
According to Screenrant, "The BFG" marks the reunion of "E.T." screenwriter Melissa Mathison and director Steven Spielberg. Sadly, Mathison passed away a while after the filming concluded.
More importantly, though, "The BFG" brought together director Steven Spielberg and Mark Rylance after their work in "Bridge of Spies."
Mark Rylance's performance in "Bridge of Spies" earned him an Oscar last year. Aside from collaborating in "The BFG," the celebrated duo has signed on two more films: the sci-fi thriller "Ready Player One" and the drama "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara," USA Today added.
In "The BFG," Rylance takes on the character of a big friendly giant who took an orphaned British girl named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) back to his Giant Country. To protect himself after he was seen doing his nightly duty of distributing dreams to sleeping kids, he took the little girl to his world just to face greater dangers from his fellow giants.
Steven Spielberg's 'The BFG'
"The BFG" is the first product of Steven Spielberg's proper collaboration with Walt Disney Pictures. In preparation for the film's release, Disney unveiled four clips from the magical world.
"The BFG" used advanced motion-capture and CGI animation to create the giants in the film. According to reports, "The BFG" offered impressive visuals of the creatures, from the smaller ones up to the largest one.
'The BFG" will hit the theaters on Friday, July 1. Learn more about the magnificent and wonderful giants in one of the clips below.
