After actor Ben Affleck removed himself from the discussion, Warner Bros. is still actively looking for a director to bring a live-action version of Justice League of America to the silver screen.
There is now a rumor that the studio is looking to hire directors of the "Matrix" franchise Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski, according to the website Moviehole.
The siblings have directed some visual stunning and compelling film such as the "Matrix trilogy," "Speed Racer," "V for Vendetta" and the upcoming sci-fi film "Cloud Atlas."
"Gangster Squad's" writer Will Beall wrote the Justice League script and he has been linked to the studio's proposed "Lethal Weapon" reboot and several other projects at WB studios, according to Variety.
The Justice League of America is comic book published by DC Comics that features an assemble cast of fictional superhero that form a super hero team.
The Justice League made its first appearance in the 1960s' comic book "The Brave and the Bold," with the original line-up of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter.
Throughout the years the team's roster has rotated and featured other DC heroes such as Green Arrow, Captain Marvel, Black Canary, the Atom, Hawkman, Elongated Man, Red Tornado, Firestorm, Zatanna, other members of the Green Lanterns corps, and dozens of others.
Moviehole says that Warner Brothers is excited with the upcoming film "Cloud Atlas," which features a large ensemble cast. The Wachowskis have adapted DC Comics to film before when the duo created the feature film version of "V for Vendetta." The comic's creator Alan Moore Alan Moore notoriously distanced himself from the film and refused to view the film
The rumors of Justice League movie have picked up speed since "Marvel's Avengers" became a runaway success and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy ended. Superman is the nest DC character to get a big screen adaption and the fate of a Justice League movie could be on that film's director Zack Snyder.
Snyder is known for making highly stylized action films and for filming his movies with green screens. Snyder is also familiar with DC comic adaptions having directed "The Watchmen."
No production schedule has been made for the film and as of now there is no release date.
