"Overwatch" fans are in for a treat as the turret-wielding Torbjörn is about to get a nerf in Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles per an announcement from Blizzard Entertainment Jeff Kaplan.
Many see "Overwatch" as one of the best games ever except for the fact that Torbjörn overpowers all other characters every time he enters the scene with his auto-aiming turrets in hand.A Reddit post from Canadlaw became a solid evidence of this, saying: "Everything about this game is fun EXCEPT for the fact that Torbjorn is in it. He just completely ruins the game for everyone."
The Redditor said that players using Torbjörn are expected to win the match considering that he has an 80 percent win rate. That is, with the right combination of characters.
But Kotaku explained that the character's advantages are particularly highlighted with PC users since they have precision mouse and keyboard controls. This leaves console players with less hardware for aiming at a disadvantage.
Fortunately, the game's developers do not turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the players' grievances and have final answered prayers to take care of the Torbjörn dilemma. In an unexpected timing, Kaplan chimed in his response to the lengthy post.
"In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjörn's turret by 30% on Xbox One and PS4. PC will remain unchanged," he said. He also revealed that the upcoming nerf is set to go live sometime between the middle and end of July.
This news left fans and analysts alike shouting for joy. Kaplan's post was flooded with grateful comments. Some even lauded the update and noted that the 30 percent nerf damage is a considerably significant one.
Furthermore, Forbes gaming analyst Paul Tassi lauded the announcement, saying that there are times when the best fixes are the simplest ones. It is about time that Torbjörn is put in a more level playing field.
