New characters for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" were recently revealed, including the character that Forest Whitaker will portray. Meet, Saw Gerrera, the old-time rebel fighter from the "Star Wars: The Clone"
Who Is Saw Gerrera?
Lucasfilm and Disney were tight-lipped with regards to Forest Whitaker's character in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" until now. A recent report from Entertainment Weekly revealed that he will portray a fan-favorite rebel, who is known to fight for what is right through questionable means at times.
Because of his deep background in "Star Wars" story, Lucasfilm has decided to keep Forest Whitaker's character under wraps.
Saw Gerrera is a guerrilla soldier hailed from the planet Onderon. The character first appeared in season 5 of "The Clone Wars" animated series.
Saw Gerrera is said to have trained by Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi and padawan Ahsoka Tanowhen when he was a young man. He, later on, became a self-appointed leader of a rebel unit fighting against Count Dooku in the "Star Wars" animated series.

Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera
In the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Saw Gerrera will be seen as more mature, battle-hardened veteran since the story is set two decades after the events of the "Revenge of the Sith."
Gerrera continued fighting and became a force to reckon with. In "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," he will be known as a man who had tried to do the right thing by questionable means.
Forest Whitaker will still appear similar to the young Rebel in "The Clone Wars" although a lot older. He will still sport a scar although in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," it will appear arches above his eyebrow instead of bisecting it.
According to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Forest Whitaker, "He's on the fringe of the Rebel Alliance. Even [they] are a little concerned about him."
