I always thought games were meant to be fun. Then Nintendo decided to make "Iron" Mike Tyson a boss character, and my perception of gaming as entertainment was shattered at a young age. Dark Souls continued in that tradition. Initially released last year, the game managed to crack numerous top ten lists, carving out a niche for itself as one of the most difficult games of the year, if not to date.
Now, for gamers who blur the line between enjoying a challenge and straight up masochism, the aptly named Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition is now available on PC.
There's the good. The bad?
It seems that Prepare to Die's looks just aren't up to snuff with its challenge. Many gamers expressed a fair amount of disappointment with how the game looked in the end. It seems as though the game only runs at a resolution of 1024 x 720. But worry not, for there's a fix!
In a matter of hours after the game went up for sale on Steam, a NeoGaf user by the name of Durante posted a quick fix solution for the game. Just keep in mind that this is an unofficial fix, and is not guaranteed.
Doing this should help the game look as smooth as it does in the trailer below, but the game will still be as difficult as sin.
If you're not a PC gamer, or your equipment just isn't up to par, you'll get your chance to crucify yourself soon enough. As IGN reported earlier this summer, "Namco Bandai has announced that the new content included in the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die PC version of From Software's dark fantasy role-playing game will also be released for consoles. Sometime this winter in North America, the Artorias of the Abyss expansion content will be sold through Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft Points and PlayStation Network for 14.99 USD."
