DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will return to The CW this October, and while waiting, fans can delight in the fact that the show is adding the superhero Vixen to the story. In fact, Maisie Richardson-Sellers will be playing Vixen a.k.a. Amaya Jiwe, the orphaned child who possessed the powers of the African Tantu Totem.
According to Entertainment Weekly, production decided to cast a new Vixen after Megalyn E.K., who voices the character in the animated spin-off and played Vixen in "Arrow," was unavailable to fill the role in "Legends of Tomorrow." They went forward with Richardson-Sellers, who is known for her role as Rebekah Mikaelson in The CW's "The Originals." The 24-year old actress also recently appeared in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as Korr Sella. Richardson-Sellers took to Twitter to express her excitement in becoming part of the "Legends of Tomorrow" team.

While E.K.'s Vixen in "Arrow" was known as Mari McCabe, the Vixen in "Legends of Tomorrow" will be known as Amaya Jiwe, which is originally the name of Mari's grandmother in the comics. According to Zap2It, "Amaya Jiwe— better known as Vixen—is the newest superhero to board the Waverider and join the ranks of the ‘Legends of Tomorrow.’ Like her granddaughter, Mari McCabe, Amaya’s powers are derived from the mysterious Tantu Totem, which allows her to magically access the abilities of animals."
The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow" was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Phil Klemmer early last year and was confirmed in May. The show stars Victor Garber ("Alias") as Professor Martin Stein, Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") as Atom/Ray Palmer, Arthur Darvill ("Doctor Who") as Rip Hunter, Caity Lotz ("Death Valley," "The Pact") as White Canary, and Franz Drameh ("Edge of Tomorrow") as Jefferson Jackson. The show also features Ciara Renée, Falk Hentschel, Amy Pemberton, Dominic Purcell, and Wentworth Miller.
"Legends of Tomorrow" returns to The CW on October 13 at PM ET.
