The synopsis for "Doctor Strange" has officially been released and it suggests that Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme will be the ultimate savior of all things Marvel. Why? Because why not?
Doctor Strange Will "Protect The Marvel Cinematic Universe"
Radio Times, along with several other outlets, revealed the "Doctor Strange" synopsis. Here is an excerpt of the movie's description:
"Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
The last phrase seems to suggest that Benedict Cumberbatch will keep MCU from something truly evil. Is the "Doctor Strange" synopsis referring to Thanos, who will appear "Avengers: Infinity War?"
Perhaps it is talking about the slew of DC Extended Universe films that will be released in the future? Or is it referring to one of Doctor Strange's most unusual villains? This will be a long stretch, so prepare for the ridiculous connection.
Is Mephisto The Main Villain In "Doctor Strange"?
There have been rumors that Mephisto will be the main villain in the Netflix series "Marvel's The Defenders" (via Screen Geek). There are speculations that Mephisto will also appear in "Doctor Strange" before crossing over to the Netflix show.
If Doctor Strange can effectively defeat Mephisto, then he can truly keep MCU safe. Also, these are all just rumors so it would be best to take it with a grain of salt.
In related news, Gizmodo has come across a "Doctor Strange" Lego set. The "Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum" Lego set comes with figures of the Sorcerer Supreme, Baron Mordo and The Ancient One.
The set is a remarkable recreation of Strange's apartment, but also features a suspicious-looking tentacle monster stuck on the wall. Perhaps fans should watch out for that when "Doctor Strange" hits theaters on November 4.
